Your random numbers will appear here...

Numbers come from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, with every value in the range equally likely.

How to Use the Random Number Generator

  1. Enter the minimum and maximum. Both values are included, and negative numbers are allowed.
  2. Enter how many numbers you need, from 1 to 1,000.
  3. Untick Allow duplicates if every number must be different, for example when drawing raffle tickets. Tick Sort results if you want them in order.
  4. Press Generate. Press it again for a new set, then copy or save the numbers.

About the Random Number Generator

Random numbers are useful for games, giveaways, classroom activities, sampling and testing: rolling dice when you have none, choosing a winner from numbered entries, putting people into random groups or picking test data.

Numbers come from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), using rejection sampling so every whole number in the range has exactly the same chance. With duplicates turned off, each number can appear only once, like drawing numbered balls from a bag without putting them back, so you cannot ask for more unique numbers than the range contains.

This version works with whole numbers only, from −1 trillion to 1 trillion. For draws with legal or financial consequences, such as regulated lotteries, use a certified and audited process rather than a web tool. The calculation runs in your browser with JavaScript, and this tool does not send what you enter to a Usevanta server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the numbers truly random?

They come from your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator, which is seeded from your operating system’s sources of randomness. That is unpredictable enough for games, giveaways and security uses, and much stronger than the Math.random function many simple generators use.

Are the minimum and maximum included?

Yes. A range of 1 to 10 can return 1, 10 or any whole number in between.

How do I generate numbers without repeats?

Untick Allow duplicates. Each number will then appear at most once. You cannot ask for more numbers than exist in the range: from 1 to 10 you can draw at most 10 unique numbers.

Can I generate decimal numbers?

Not at the moment; the tool generates whole numbers only. For decimals, generate whole numbers in a larger range and divide them. For example, 0 to 1000 divided by 100 gives values from 0 to 10 with two decimal places.

Can I use this to pick a giveaway winner?

Yes. Number your entries, set the range from 1 to the number of entries and generate one number. For transparency, record your screen or have a witness when you press Generate.
